FROM THE PASTOR
Dear Church,
One of the greatest callings of God today I believe is not for
presidents or pastors but for mothers. Truly one of the greatest calls
is for godly mothers to arise to the high call, and raise children in
the nurture and grace of God! There is no greater call than a godly
committed mother! Mothers go unnoticed and unappreciated too many
times, but God sees.
Mark 3 35 says, “For whosoever shall DO THE WILL OF GOD, the same shall be my brother and my sister and MOTHER.”
We all have the opportunity of investing in others and becoming a
mother and father to others. Few women in our world today realize the
awesome responsibly of having children. Children are a gift from God,
but what we do with children is our gift back to God.
We need godly mothers in the church! There are many women, but
there are few godly mothers in this world. I wonder, WHY? Why are there
not many godly mothers?
Let us arise to the office and calling for godly mothers. This week
we will look at why there are so few godly mothers today. My hope for
this week as we gather for worship is that we honor our mothers for
sure, but I pray mothers are challenged to be godly mothers!

MARINES IN AFGHANASTAN
Matthew Proctor is the grandson of Dale and Donna Atkeson.
The following is a portion of Matthew's phone call to his parents
Dan and Dee Atkeson-Proctor, concerning the death of one of his best
friends. Thomas was point man, meaning that he was the first marine as
three marines followed.
The next day they went out on patrol with Thomas leading and his
three best friends Matthew, Palmer and Odie following him. They were
clearing a house when Thomas stepped on an IED (improvised explosive
device) and his leg was blown off. He died as a result of loss of
blood. Matthew said that for some reason he had decided to take his
Bible with him on that patrol (something he hardly ever did) and he
knelt down beside Thomas and asked if he would like him to read Psalm
91. Psalm 91 is Thomas’ life Psalm and is tattooed on his back. Thomas
was excited for Matthew to read him the Psalm and so Matthew read the
Psalm eight or nine times, he also read Phil 1:21 (Matthew’s life
verse) “For me to live is Christ and to die is gain”, and said the
Lord’s prayer with him. Then each of his friends kissed him on the
forehead and told him they loved him.
Matthew said that it was a perfect scenario for a dying man.
Thomas' parents are;

SPRING TEA AT FIRST CHRISTIAN
Seasons of My Life by Dartha Lewis
Dartha Lewis had a most inspiring message for the ladies attending
the Spring Tea on Saturday, May 1. She took us through the seasons of
her life using hats to illustrate each season. Janet Eldridge
entertained us with two beautiful songs.
Have you missed out on the simple joys of the present season because you are anxiously waiting for another one to begin?
Are you desperately trying to hold on to a season that is showing signs of ending too soon?
Are you longing for another season to begin because this one is too painful?
What did you learn before leaving the last season?
Did you retreat to a safe place instead of allowing the Father to show you Himself and His provision during a tough season?
How has God revealed his grace to you in this current season?
Have you allowed the Lord to show you that whatever season you are
in right now is exactly where the Father has you for a reason?
Are you able to rest in the Father’s grip today?
Are you able to release the coming season that will bring unknown
changes to you and your family; knowing that they are safe in His grip
also?
Can you look forward to the coming season because you have done all
you have done all you know to do to prepare yourself for whatever the
Lord chooses to bring your way?

MATAMOROS MEXICO MISSION TRIP
Many
have heard of our plan to distribute personal hygiene kits to women and
children living in Matamoros and the island community when we visit in
July, and have expressed an interest in helping provide the necessary
items. We have set an ambitious goal of 250 kits for the children. Each
bag will include the following: toothbrush/paste, washcloth/soap, comb,
and a small toy. The 30 (hand sewn) bags for the women will include:
sewing kit, toothbrush/paste, washcloth/soap, lip balm, hand lotion and
comb/hair ties. The items that we are still in need of are: washcloths,
combs (WIDE TOOTH), hair ties, sewing kits and unisex toys such as
balls, yo-yos, whistles, jump ropes, punch balloons etc. There will be
a basket set out in the entryway in which you can place your donations.
