FROM THE PASTOR
Dear Church,
Well our cookout and the revealing of our 2010/2011 goals have been
shared. Thanks to all of you who took the time to come and hear the
exciting things coming our way over the next two years. Changes are
sure to come, but more importantly, we believe God is up to some
exciting things in the life of FCC.
Dartha and Machaelle shared some opportunities for service teaching
our youth and children. I shared some opportunities to host a Life
Group in your home; we are looking for musicians and voices to lead us
in celebration praise and worship. The opportunities are endless.
Recently some of our men got together and shared how we could begin
to pick up kids for kids’ events and transport kids and adults to and
from mission opportunities. They are simply looking for the tools to do
these things and more. I sensed an excitement and passion about helping
and nurturing young people on their spiritual journeys. I must say,
those kinds of things excite me and encourage me as we labor together
here at First Christian.
I can’t wait to see what God is up to next!
Jay

THANK YOU
Dear Pastor Jay,
Thank you for allowing me to present a report at First Christian
Church on May 2 on what God has done through the Gideon ministry.
The generous gifts from the members of the church totaling $161.00
will make it possible to place 123 Scriptures. I estimate that almost
7,900 people will have an opportunity to read these copies of God’s
word and many will give their lives to Christ as a result.
Gail and I enjoyed the entire worship service and the friendliness
of the congregation. It was a privilege to witness Cody Nobel’s
baptism. I am particularly grateful for your prayers in support of the
Gideon ministry.
Many people will have an opportunity to know Jesus because of the
generosity of the First Christian Church. On their behalf, thank you
for giving me the privilege of presenting a report.
In Christ, Joe Botinelly
Thank you to all of you who remembered us with prayers and cards at
the time of the death of my brother Gerald. We appreciated your
thoughtfulness. Stephen and Shirley Lieurance

GOALS FOR FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH
Goal number 1 - Growth in Spiritual Formation (Making Disciples that Make Disciples)
• Develop a hunger among our people for God’s Word by teaching,
preaching and sharing the importance and priority of hiding God’s Word
in our heart. We will put “God’s word on display” as we seek the heart
of God in all ministries of FCC!
• Revitalize worship gatherings by utilizing celebratory music,
video, testimonies, drama and the arts as we praise Jesus for His grace
in our lives!
• Revitalize Sunday School by adding adult modules and renovating children’s classes and curriculum.
• Add various Bible studies at alternate times to worship hour or Sunday School.
Goal number 2 – Growth in Ministry Formation (Making Disciples that Make Disciples)
• Grow in member engagement. We will seek to renew the passion of
our members to service by teaching, preaching and worshipping Jesus
with urgency.
• Execute plan to contact current members (directory is one avenue) challenging them to try FCC again.
• Investigate opportunities to reach a segment of our community not yet being served by the existing churches.
• Complete 2010 Church directory.
• Mission Trips to Mexico-Mission: Matamoros 2010 and other destinations both local and abroad
• Assess members’ spiritual giftedness before filling any ministry or leadership position.
• Plan and execute a Flock Ministry led by elders and deacons.
Goal Number 3–Growth in Administrative Formation (Making Disciples that Make Disciples)
• Form Leadership Team to evaluate and recommend changes to current church structure and committee formation.
• Establish an educational plan in conjunction with Consecration Sunday to encourage giving generously.
• Establish training process to develop and prepare people for leadership.

NEW CHURCH COUNT AT 657; PENTECOST OFFERING MAY 23
Disciples
are helping to share the witness of Christ by supporting the growth of
new churches throughout the United States and Canada. Through the New
Church movement, 657 new churches have been started since 2001, a
benchmark that puts Disciples well on their way to start 1,000 new
churches by 2020.
The Pentecost Special Offering helps support the new church
movement. Monies collected through the offering are divided between New
Church ministry and the region where the giving congregation is
located. The portion that goes to New Church Ministry is used to
support the wider church in recruitment, training and coaching of new
church pastors.
