FROM THE PASTOR
Each year, in October or early November, we
celebrate CONSECRATION SUNDAY. “Consecration Sunday” is a stewardship
program which encourages members and friends of the church to recognize how
important financial giving is in order for the church to fulfill its
various ministries within the church, within the community and around the
world. Much of the church’s ministry is personal in nature: teaching,
leading in other ways, assisting, carrying out the duties required by an
elected office, calling on visitors, visiting the homebound and others with
needs, offering help and hope. Many of the church’s ministries, however,
cannot be accomplished without money: e.g. salaries and the
ministries/missions of our various committees/teams, all of which are
factored into an annual budget.
Consecration Sunday this year is October 26. Between now and
then we need to pray, plan, seek God’s guidance and be ready with our
decision for our intended giving to the church’s ministries/missions in
2009. The effectiveness of the church depends on both God and those who
love and faithfully serve Him.

YOUTH NEWS
C.I.A.
Wow! What a great turn out of Special Agents at last week's
Wednesday meeting for youth ages K-5th grade. An excited and sweaty,
(oops! Machaelle forgot to turn on the air) Commander in Chief, Jason
Chadd, reported that the new group of CIA (Christians in Action) operatives
had accepted their missions and were ready to proceed. CIA meets every
Wednesday from 6:00-7:15 p.m. Note to all agents: Don't forget to bring
your password notebook and sunglasses! See you there!
Family Jam Trunk or Treat
Q: Why did the elephant come home early from vacation?
A: Because he forgot to pack his trunk! Ha, ha!
Don't get caught in the same predicament! Start gathering your
decorations for the annual trunk or treat parade and contest which will
take place on Wednesday, October 29th. You can be as simple or elaborate
as you would like…but please take the time to register your vehicle with
Machaelle to help with the organization and safety aspects of the event.
Forms are available at the church. Prizes will be awarded, so let's see a
little healthy competition get started!
Don't forget to come to the October Family JAM session that same
night…October 29th. Our youth will be serving their delicious sloppy joes
and sides and then leading a short worship service. It promises to be a
"magical" night! RSVP today!
Cards and Calendars
If you are looking for a truly beautiful wall calendar or set of
stunning inspirational greeting cards, let us help you out! Orders for
these two products from God's Creation are being taken through the month of
October. Stop by the table in the entryway and put in your order today!

This is a reminder that Sunday, October 12 at 6:00 p.m. there will
be a carry-in dinner at the church to organize the next groups for Tables
of Eight. For those who can’t attend the dinner but wish to be included
in a group there is a sign up sheet on the table in the sanctuary.

The two small (4ft) tables are not used in the office anymore!
Please return them in the storage room, not the office.

CHURCH GROWTH
Cookies for a Cause—October
Once again we are joining the Haysville Community Outreach and the
other churches in Haysville to provide a Thanksgiving dinner for families
in need. We know this may seem a little early to be asking for money for
turkeys but Thanksgiving is around the corner. If you would like to donate
by check please make the check out to Haysville Community Outreach and
indicate that it’s for Thanksgiving turkeys. Thanks in advance for all
the ways you support all the causes. Money will be collected on Sunday,
October 12 when we celebrate with cookies and lemonade.
Family Fun Night
This coming Saturday the 11th is Family Fun Night. Bring soup,
sandwiches or your favorite dish and enjoy an evening of good food and
fellowship. If you have a favorite board game, bring it too. For the
children who don’t want to play games, we will be showing a DVD. Dinner
starts at 6:00 p.m. See you there!

ELDERS
Elders are available for individual prayer concerns
and needs! Let one of them know and they will meet you in the library
following worship. If you need any of them at any other time just give
them a call.
