FROM THE PASTOR
An interesting book titled WEALTH CONUNDRUM came to the
church in the mail recently. It was written by Ralph Doudera, a prosperous
money manager and CEO of Spectrum Financial, Inc., a registered investment
advisory firm in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The author writes, “I loved
money. As long as I could remember, I had always wanted to have money, and
that was the way my life turned out.” (p.13) Later, he writes, “I not
only loved money, I wanted to hang on to it. I never gave anything to
anybody. Why was I so cheap?” (p.17)
The author indicates he was a Christian, yet he admits that he
was not really allowing God to have the role that God should have in his
life. One of the Scriptures that began to influence him was what Jesus
said in Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate
the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise
the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.” (NIV) Doudera realized
that he was allowing money to be his master rather than his servant.
Our annual Consecration Sunday will be October 26. This is the
day we are asked to indicate our intended giving to the church in 2009.
Let us prayerfully seek God’s guidance as we determine how we will manage
the money with which God blesses us. May money be our servant, not our
master.

IMPORTANT FALL FESTIVAL PARADE
INFORMATION
FCC will be participating in the parade and running a
booth at the Fall Festival this weekend. We need volunteers who can walk
in the parade Saturday morning and who can mind the booth for two hour
increments during the day Saturday and Sunday. In addition, we'll be
decorating the float on Friday from 4pm to 6pm in the FCC parking lot and
would love to have people come out to help. This year’s theme is "Jesus
Rocks!" and will be everyone's opportunity to dress like a rock star.
Anybody who wants to be in the parade needs to be at the Senior Center at
8am this Saturday. For the booth, volunteers are needed for the Saturday
shifts between 10am and 5pm and for Sunday from noon to 4 pm. You would be
handing out cards and other giveaways and talking to people about our
church. Our participation in the festival has been building in the last
few years and has been one method of increasing our visibility in the
community with the aim of growing our church.
Please call me, Angelie Vincent, at 218-3294 if you can help out at
the booth or will be walking in the parade.
