PASTOR

CONSECRATION SUNDAY was, indeed, a blessed event for our
congregation! The financial commitments that were submitted reflected
vision and faith on the part of our people. When those who were not able
to be present make known their commitments the total anticipated for 2009
will be the highest ever for our congregation. THANKYOU, one and all!
And thank you for the many ways you participate in fulfilling
God’s purposes here on earth. If you think the Victory Luncheon
following worship was delightful, and it was, who can imagine the banquet
our heavenly Father can provide for the faithful when our journey here is
over? What a joy to be part of God’s family.

STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE

How wonderful to be able to
report the following:
At the close of the Consecration Service this past Sunday, a total
of 48 Estimate of Giving Cards were received, with a total commitment of
$144,102 annually. Based on last year’s giving records, we expect to
receive additional Estimate of Giving Cards from people who were not
present on Sunday. We estimate these pledges to be $8,840. Based on the
average total of loose offerings during the past two years, we can expect
to receive $2,860 during the coming year from that source. That gives us a
grand total of $155,802 anticipated income for the 2009.
Faith Walkers to date: 48
Total Committed by these 48: $144,102
Increased $ over last year: 17
Additional anticipated commitments: $ 8,840
New Faith Walkers 8
Anticipated loose offerings: $ 2,860
Total anticipated income for 2009: $155,802
In these uncertain times, how great it is to see your faith in
action. Now we have the opportunity to watch God work through us for His
Kingdom.
(When we have all numbers firmed up, we will publish the results
for you.) Johnna Hall

BIBLE
READING
|
Not By Bread Alone - Seeking God
through His Word
“When we approach the Bible as history and biography, we approach
the Bible in the wrong spirit. We must read the Bible, not primarily as
historians seeking information, but as men and women seeking God.” Billy
Graham
Our Bible Reading Plan is ready to enter its third quarter, and
new reading “tents” were handed out Sunday for both the
Whole-Bible-in-a-year and the New Testament-in-a-year plans. If you
weren’t there Sunday but are enrolled in one of the plans, an envelope
with your name on it is at the back of the sanctuary with your new tent.
Also, if your bookmarks are getting ratty and you want new ones, sets will
be available next Sunday. Help yourself.
If you haven’t started, why not start this quarter? Choose
your plan—Whole or New—and pick up a reading plan this Sunday.
When we started Not By Bread Alone, we had no idea how many
would participate, yet we had a tremendous response of people wanting to.
A few have fallen behind in their reading, and I just want to encourage you
to pick up that Bible and read, even if you missed some segments of the
plan. Because . . . .
“Martin Luther was reading his Bible when God spoke to him and it
changed the course of history. You come back to the Bible. Begin to read
it. Study it and God will speak to you and change you—and through you
perhaps history can be changed.” Billy Graham
And for those of you who are on track, I want to applaud and
encourage you. It is a sacrifice of time and energy . . .
or. . . is it an investment?
Johnna Hall for your Stewardship Committee

MISSIONARY TO SPEAK
NOVEMBER 9TH!!
|
congregation has supported Ed
and his wife, Melissa, for a number of years. When we first started our
support of their mission, they were serving in Columbia. Today they serve
Wycliffe in the wilds of the Jungle Jump Off training field in Dixon,
Illinois.
What’s that all about? Plan to be at church Sunday, November 9th
to find out from Ed how we help him serve God in the Mission Field.
From Wycliffe’s website:
Today about 200 million people do not have the Bible in their own
language. Wycliffe’s vision is to see the Bible accessible to all people
in the language they understand best. Johnna Hall
