NOTE FROM THE INTERIM PASTOR
Usually when a minister or a CEO departs, they like to let everyone know of their accomplishments. Looking back over these past 11 ½ months of ministry together, there are several things which we as a church can celebrate.

First and foremost, our attendance for Sunday morning worship has held up very well. Likewise our offerings have been very good as well. These are two areas that have a way of dropping off during an interim ministry. This is something for you as a church to celebrate.

Some things have happened in the life of the church that came to fruition during my tenure. One of those is the work of Jennifer Jimenez and David Walker. Jennifer takes care of our church’s website. If you have not seen it lately, I encourage you to go on line and see this fine work. One thing that Jennifer has added to the website is the Sunday morning sermon. David records the sermon during our worship service. Within hours Jennifer has it on our website. This is not only a service for our people and shut-ins, but has the potential of reaching a vast audience, beyond the Greater Haysville Area, to wherever people have internet access. I have even let some of my friends know about it, especially some of those who think I ought to send them a tape of my sermon. The possibilities are endless when you think about it. I even stopped to listen to one of my sermons.

It has been a good year for me. You folks have been so kind and gracious. While I wait on the Lord for my next opportunity in ministry, I will spend a little time in my home in Bellevue, Nebraska. It will give me time to rest, take care of some things in my home, and possibly do some writing. As I depart I would pray that you receive Jay and Dartha Lewis with the same love and affection you have shown me.

This Sunday will be my last Sunday with you. It promises to be an exciting day for all of us. I will sing a special solo, by request, in keeping with the Christmas Season. I trust you will be here to share in worship. It promises to be a great day.

IN APPRECIATION
“The Christian life is not so much a destination as a journey. God travels with us always, and people join us along the way. There are times of welcoming fellow travelers, and there are times of bidding one another farewell. Sunday, December 13, 2009 we will be bidding Milton Bryarly, our interim pastor, farewell and Godspeed.”

Please join together as a church family as we express our gratitude to Milton for his faithful ministry, his leadership, his friendship, for all that has been accomplished during his time with us, and as we extend our best wishes to Milt as his journey leads him elsewhere.

It is important and right that we recognize these times of passage, of endings and beginnings. We hope that as we gather together as a family, that this special time will be a part of our remembered times for Milt and for each of us as we reflect on this shared journey of faith.

CHURCH GROWTH
Family Fun Night

Family Fun Night is this Saturday, December 12th. Bring sandwiches, soup or your favorite dish to share with others. We have such a great time you ought to come join us. We start at 6:00 p.m. with dinner and then play board games, dominoes or other games that families bring from home. This Saturday, before playing games we will set up the tables and chairs for the carry-in dinner on Sunday. We will need extra help with this, so if anyone can come at 7:00 to help us, we would appreciate it. Or better yet, come at 6:00 to eat dinner and then help with the tables.

Carry-In Dinner for Pastor Milton

This Sunday, December 13th will be Pastor Milton’s last Sunday with us. Following worship we will join together for a carry-in lunch. Each family will need to bring a meat dish and a vegetable or salad. Cake will be provided. Bring your food to the kitchen and the ladies will take care of it for you. After lunch we would appreciate any help you can give us with clean-up.
REMINDER:
A basket will be available if you would like to bring a “farewell, thank you, or birthday” card for Milton. The cards will be presented to him along with farewell gifts and birthday cake.
