FROM THE PASTOR
“Joy to the
World! The Lord is come . . . .” This is the way Isaac Watts begins his
beloved Christmas card written in 1719. Whatever other emotions accompany
celebrating the birth of Christ, certainly joy is among them. There is
darkness in the world because of sin—missing the mark that God has set
for us. Jesus was well aware of his mission. One way he stated that
mission is recorded in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever
follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of
life.”
Watts continues verse one of “Joy to the World” by saying,
“Let earth receive her King. Let every heart prepare Him room . . . .”
This is the key to experiencing joy: Let earth receive her King. Let every
heart prepare Him room.
This joy beyond measure is available to all who receive Jesus as
their Savior and Lord.
JOY TO THE WORLD. The Lord has come!
George

FROM THE E-MAIL
FILE
Dear Church Family,
I would like to thank you and invite you to celebrate our Lord's
birth this season. Over 35 years ago I was blessed to be able to gain
confidence to offer praises to the Lord through music. Music became a way
for me to minister and tell people about my faith. Without the support of
my parents and your church I would not be the person I am today.
Therefore, I would like to invite you to see the fruits of your labors. My
church family here in Edmond, Oklahoma presents an annual praise to God
called "One Incredible Moment." It is truly a ministry, as it depicts
Christ’s Life from the manger to the cross to the resurrection. The
narration is by Max Lucado and the music is inspirational. I would like to
invite you all to join us and bring someone you would like to bring to
Christ. Edmond is a 2 hour drive on I-35. The presentations are Friday,
Saturday and Sunday, December 12, 13, 14, at 7:00 p.m. and are free. The
doors to the sanctuary open at 6:30 p.m. I hope many of you can come and
enjoy this gift that is a result of your gift to me long ago.
May God Bless You All, Cheri (Church) Blackwood
