FROM THE PASTOR
B r- r- r- r- r . . . it’s cold outside! On well, it’s winter. That’s what we can expect in Kansas.

Seasons generally do have an effect on us. It’s the Christmas season. How does that affect us? One of the Christmas carols includes the phrase, “Tis the season to be jolly.” So it is. However, if we let it, the Christmas season can include a lot of frustration and anxiety. Thankfully, one of the powers God gave us is the power to make choices. Consequently, how we experience the Christmas season, in the final analysis, depends on our choice. Granted, circumstances have their influences on us. Significant losses can not be ignored—the loss of loved ones, the loss of a job, the loss of a home, for instance. Yet, the true meaning of Christmas is not diminished by any of these.

The heart of Christmas is the birth of our Savior. The world needed and continues to need a Savior. Because of God’s love Jesus came to save us. Whatever other choices we make, it is imperative to choose Jesus as our Savior and Lord.

George

FROM THE MAILBOX
First Christian Church, Erie, Kansas

Dear Pastor George,

Your church sent us your “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” offering to help rebuild our church after the July 2007 flood. We are eternally grateful to all the help we received.

Your letter about the special offering inspired us to start our own annual offering which we took on our year anniversary of the flood. We raised over $3,000.00!

I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that your offering was a ripple that touched us and we’re passing it on. By the way, we are calling our offering the “Pass It On” offering.

Thanks again! Sincerely, Gayle Ballard, Church Secretary

YOU are making a difference in this region and in the world through your active participation in your church and by your generous gift to the Christmas Offering, 100 percent of which supports the mission and ministries of the Kansas Region. Together we are raising up Christian leaders for today and tomorrow. Thank you for contributing to the Christmas Offering! (Copied)
